Therapy for grief, divorce, parenting and relationships in Ottawa

Hi, I'm Claire

I am a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist who works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.

My work is rooted in the belief that understanding ourselves helps us better understand our relationships, our challenges, and the lives we want to create.

Whether you're navigating family conflict, parenting concerns, separation and divorce, grief and loss, caregiving, or recurring relationship patterns, therapy offers an opportunity to better understand what is happening beneath the surface and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

My Approach

One of the beliefs that guides my work is that understanding ourselves helps us better understand the people we love, the challenges we face, and the lives we want to create.

People make sense when we understand their experiences. The ways we think, feel, communicate, and relate to others are often shaped by the relationships, experiences, and environments that have influenced us throughout our lives.

The ways we think, feel, communicate, and relate to others are often shaped by the relationships, experiences, and environments that have influenced us throughout our lives.

Many of the challenges people bring to therapy are not isolated problems. They are often connected to deeper patterns that have developed over time.

Perhaps you've found yourself:

  • Repeating the same relationship dynamics

  • Struggling to set boundaries

  • Feeling responsible for other people's emotions

  • Navigating conflict with a partner, parent, child, or former spouse

  • Feeling overwhelmed by grief, caregiving responsibilities, or major life transitions

Therapy provides an opportunity to better understand these experiences and patterns with curiosity rather than judgment. As understanding grows, so does the ability to make different choices, strengthen relationships, and move toward the life you want to create.

My role is not to tell you who you are or what decisions you should make. My role is to help you make sense of your experiences, explore new possibilities, and support you as you move forward.

Areas of Focus

Supporting Complex Relationships and Life Transitions

While I work with a wide range of concerns, I have a particular interest in helping individuals and families better understand the patterns influencing their relationships, challenges, and life transitions.

This often includes support with:

Codependency, People-Pleasing & Boundaries

Understanding patterns of over-responsibility, difficulty saying no, and losing yourself in relationships.

Relationship Challenges

Exploring recurring conflicts, communication difficulties, attachment patterns, and unhealthy relationship dynamics.

Parenting & Families

Supporting parents and families as they navigate behavioural concerns, emotional regulation, communication challenges, and family transitions.

Separation, Divorce & Co-Parenting

Helping individuals and families move through relationship endings, high-conflict situations, co-parenting challenges, and family court-related stress.

Grief, Bereavement & Caregiving

Providing support through loss, anticipatory grief, caregiver burnout, and life after the death of a loved one.

End-of-Life & MAiD Support

Supporting individuals and families navigating terminal illness, end-of-life decisions, and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).

Who I Work With

Every individual, family, and relationship is unique.

Whether you're looking to better understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, navigate a major life transition, or support your family through a difficult season, therapy can provide a space for reflection, growth, and meaningful change.

I provide therapy for:

  • Children

  • Teens

  • Adults

  • Couples

  • Parents

  • Families

Some clients come to therapy seeking support for a specific challenge. Others come with a sense that something isn't working but aren't quite sure why.

Both are welcome.

Together, we will explore your experiences, identify your goals, and develop an approach that fits your unique needs.

What Clients Often Tell Me

Clients often tell me they appreciate:

  • Feeling genuinely heard and understood

  • Being able to discuss difficult topics without fear of judgment

  • Gaining new perspectives on longstanding challenges

  • Better understanding themselves and their relationships

  • Learning practical strategies alongside deeper insight

  • Feeling supported while navigating complex situations

My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences while also feeling empowered to make meaningful changes.

Outside The Therapy Room

When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with family, continuing to learn, and exploring the topics that inspire my work, including relationships, communication, personal growth, spirituality, and the ways people make meaning of their experiences.

I believe learning is a lifelong process, and I bring that same curiosity into both my professional and personal life.
